This is a piece I made with student dancers during the Spring Semester at Temple University.

Brief choreographer bio:

Esther Baker-Tarpaga is a choreographer, performance artist, and parent. She grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado and now lives in Philadelphia. She is co-founder of Baker & Tarpaga Dance Project, a transnational company based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso and Philadelphia. Her work was presented at Baad!Ass Women’s Festival Bronx, The Wassaic Festival NY, CECUT Tijuana, LabBodies Baltimore, Bali Spirit Festival Indonesia, REDCAT Los Angeles, I Trotra Madagascar, Dialogue De Corps Burkina Faso, The King Arts Complex Ohio, Maitisong Festival Botswana, French Cultural Center Dakar, and Englert Theatre Iowa City. She is a collaborator with Propelled Animals, an interdisciplinary arts and social justice collective. She teaches at Temple University and has taught at University of the Arts, OSU, Cypress community college, and Rio Hondo community college. She was a Grant Wood Fellow at University of Iowa, an AIR at Marin Headlands, a NY Live Arts Suitcase Fund awardee, and a US Cultural Envoy in Guinea, Botswana, and South Africa. She toured with David Roussève/REALITY and is a guest associate with Guillermo Gomez-Pena/La Pocha Nostra. She has an M.F.A. and MA in Dance from UCLA World Arts and Cultures.
